Summary: Your garden shed could be used for much more than just storage and this article has some suggestions.
Pitchforks, shovels, lawnmowers, bikes, broken items and old toys are the kind of things you can normally expect to see in a garden shed. Sometimes the sheds are used on a daily basis and at other times they are used for storage and accessed only every few weeks or so. Sometimes though a shed may be empty and remain pretty much useless to us leaving us to wonder whether or not the garden space could be put to better use. Think outside of the box a little though and you could find a great use for your garden shed after all.
If your bike shed contains no bikes or any other handy items then it might be better to find a better use for it. One possible suggestion could be to convert the shed into a kennel where your four legged friends can find shelter from the weather and curl up to do what our pets often like doing most of all: sleeping. You will need to take a few things into account as you cannot simply just empty a shed and expect your pets to stay in their happily and comfortably. You will need to take into account sanitation and ventilation also to maintain a clean and comfortable environment for them to stay in.
If you enjoy keeping pets other than dogs then of course the shed could be used as a home for those also. You could even convert your shed into an aviary or perhaps a reptile house for exotic pets. Just remember to bear in mind the well-being of your pets and you could create a very happy home for them indeed.
We all like to enjoy the garden during the summer but even the most ardent of sun seekers among us can get a little uncomfortable on the hottest of days. If it is large enough then your bike shed could make the perfect solution to getting out of the sun for a while so you can enjoy the fine weather without getting burnt. It is quite likely that you may need to make some alterations as most bike sheds would be way too dark and stuffy for you to consider using as a summerhouse but with the right adaptations, your shed could be ideal for the job. Don’t worry if your shed isn’t at all large because even if it is large enough for only one person, it could still be a great place for that one person to take refuge from a blazing sun.
Bike sheds that are not being used could potentially be converted to a place that the whole family can enjoy a sauna. A sauna can be a very invigorating experience and can help you to purge dirt and toxins from the body helping you to feel ready for whatever may lay ahead. You will need to be sure of what you are doing otherwise safety could be an issue and you will also need to take into account maintenance and running costs. Get it right though and you could have a place that friends and family will be envious of.
