Disinfecting and Cleaning Sponges:
When the kitchen sponge starts to smell, the first though is that the scrubber is in need of replacement. Instead of throwing your sponge in the bin, throw the sponge in the microwave. Soak the sponge in vinegar or lemon juice and then heat it on high for a minute. Remember to use oven mitts to remove your newly disinfected and clean kitchen sponge.

Do you love roast garlic? Instead of taking 45 minutes in the oven, roasting garlic in the microwave takes a mere 8 minutes. Slice off the top of the head to reveal all the gloves and place in a deep dish with salt, pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Spoon into the bowl two table spoons of water and then cover the bowl with plastic wrapping. Cook the garlic for 7 – 8 minutes and then leave to cool with the plastic wrapping on for 10 minutes. This will ensure that the garlic glove is completed cooked and ready to use.
Instead of grilling your meat and vegetables for hours and improving the chance of burning the food, simply precook the food in the microwave. Cooking them partway in the microwave will allow you to cut down on your grilling time, without having raw or undercooked food. This is not only great for meat and vegetables, but can also be used for making s’mores -marshmallows- at your next campfire.
A lemon straight from the refrigerator is harder to juice than one sitting at room temperate. In order to keep your lemon fresh, store the food item in the fridge until need be. When you need to use the lemon, simply place it in the oven on high for 20 seconds. The microwave will warm and soften the fruit, allowing you to get more juice for your squeeze.
