Handicrafts are devices or works of art that are made completely by hand or by the use of relatively simple tools. Such goods are usually made in the traditional way of manufacturing goods. Therefore, the knowledge of the art of craft is usually passed down from one generation to another. The items made using these traditional methods of manufacturing are usually produced in smaller quantities and they often represent the culture or religious beliefs of the community that makes them. The goods are also handmade from natural materials that are found in the environment of the particular economy.

Workplace Water Conservation

Posted by Art Of Legend India [dot] Com On 1:48 AM
Water ConservationFor most people, the idea of green issues such as water conservation are only thought of in regards to the home. People recycle and use energy efficient products and reduce their amount of time in the shower or how often they water their lawns, and these are all good things. However, the effects we all have on the environment don’t stop the moment we walk out the front door.

Take the workplace for example. It is here that an issue like water conservation is so important because it is in the workplace where most consumption takes place. This can even be seen in dollars and cents with the rapid increases in water prices (some 73% in a mere three years). And after taking into consideration the sheer amount of energy it takes to pump this water into the workplaces in towns and cities, the idea of water conservation then becomes directly linked to overall energy savings.

With that in mind, here is a quick guide that should give business owners or managers some ideas on how best to conserve water in the workplace.

Periodically check for leaks

It’s a good idea to perform regular checks (at least a couple of times annually) in order to ensure there are no leaks on the property. There are three easy steps to performing these checks.
  1. At the optimum time, shutoff all water sources on the property.
  2. Take note of the figure on the water meter and note it.
  3. Wait one hour and check the meter again. If the figure has increased without any water being turned on during the one hour timeframe, then there is a leak somewhere on the property.

Conserve inside the workplace

There are a number of ways to conserve water inside the actual building. Some of these ideas are fairly simple, such as placing “Conserve Water” notices around the workplace and giving general conservation feedback to colleagues and staff. But as much as it is important to change behavior, it is also crucial to take advantage of new technology. That may mean installing new water-efficient devices such as waterless urinals, dual-flush toilets and tap controls like aerators and flow restricters.

Outfitting entire bathrooms and water systems with new equipment may seem like a prohibitive expense at first, but the changes will pay dividends in the long run in the form of lower utility bills. Plus, the business is doing its part to reduce its carbon footprint and conserve water.

Conserve outside the workplace

Just like the home, a good portion of water waste in the workplace comes from maintaining the grounds. To curb this waste, those in charge should focus on making small but crucial changes. These include:
    Save Water Save Life
  • Using a broom to clean driveways and parking lots instead of a hose
  • Ensuring all automatic watering is a on timer lasting no longer than 15 minutes at a time.
  • Cease all watering during the period after rain.
  • Mulch garden beds as this will reduce water evaporation.
By following the methods outlined above, business owners and managers should be able to keep accurate track of their progress and even be able to set targets for reducing consumption. And, as mentioned above, this looks good on both the balance sheet and the environment.
