Short Summary: Easter can pass you buy as it does not have the same hype as Christmas. Take advantage of the holiday weekend to enjoy some time with friends and family!
In many ways I prefer Easter to Christmas. You still get some time off work and can bring the family together but the period is blissfully free of the hype surrounding Christmas and there isn’t the pressure to spend money you can ill afford on presents. Easter does not seem to start two months before the main event like Christmas, it is a simpler affair where the focus is on the people around you and the fun things you can do together. You also have a better chance of good weather than at Christmas although British bank holidays are legendary for delivery extensive rainfall!
As many people will have four days off at Easter it is a great time to put aside a couple of days to do things and visit places that they may ordinarily not have the time to consider. Naturally this can mean that many visitor attractions get very busy and so those disliking crowds should choose carefully where they go. A visit to the countryside or parks and gardens are a good idea as the wide open spaces should guarantee some freedom from the crowds. If the weather looks poor take the opportunity to see a show or a movie or to catch up on some shopping at one of the indoor malls. Days out are great but you can also have some wonderful days at home with friends and family.
If you are staying at home Easter is a great opportunity to do something a little different and festive. You could organise an Easter egg hunt, especially if there are children involved. If your party are all adults turn the event into a treasure hunt instead with questions and challenges to keep everyone entertained. It is chance to use your imagination and it only has to cost you the price of a few chocolate eggs. You could also hold a themed fancy dress party to add extra fun to the occasion.
Like Christmas, Easter can feature a fantastic family meal. There are few strong traditions surrounding what you should eat and so you can give free reign to your culinary skills or simply ask everyone to make a contribution to a festive buffet. Get hold of some Easter decorations for the home to get everyone into the party spirit and dress your Easter dinner table with themed decorations and spring flowers. You can even include a small gift for all of your guests on their plates like an Easter egg or favour boxes with small treats.
Easter can be great fun and a lovely break from work and it doesn’t have to be as stressful as Christmas. Take advantage of a golden opportunity to get together with family and friends, have a lovely day out but most of all relax and enjoy the time off!
